Re: CorelDRAW vs. Adobe Illustrator

A little bit late in the game here and no offence for the comments, however these "this app vs. that app" comments are pretty pointless and only get people riled up for no reason. What matters is how YOU feel using the tools that YOU feel are best suited for YOU to get the job done. I was doing arch...

Isometric Scaling

Hi All,

Can someone please clarify what the proper scaling amount is for doing isometric drawings? On one site it is 86.602% and on another it is 86.062% Which one is correct? Also, where does this "magical" number come from? Could someone explain? :?

Thanks,
Lyle

Re: Where do you get your illustration subjects/objects?

Thank you for the response Glen. I kind of figured that it would probably be best to tinker with every day items and use images of my own or found online as references to create illustrations. I guess hunting down those detail shots for projects is par for the course. BTW Glen, your work is amazing!...

Re: Flickr and other self-promotional sites

I would think that having your own portfolio/business site with a proper domain name would be best. Then you would have to get it "seen" by the search engines. Then when people search for technical illustrators or illustration, your site comes up. Flickr is a good free one and there are a few groups...

Where do you get your illustration subjects/objects?

Hi All, I was wondering where everyone gets the technical data required to create your drawings. Obviously you get it from the manufacturers if you are doing a commissioned piece, but what about self commissioned or portfolio work? I know the site www.the-blueprints.com is a good one. Are there any ...

Re: Anyone use SketchUp?

I have used it for architectural illustration and a bit of mechanical modelling. It is very easy to learn and intuitive. There is a tonne of sites devoted to its use and education. But I must agree, the complex modelling is best left to C4D or 3DSMax. There are ruby scripts that extend the capabilit...
