Japan Railways has approved construction for the fastest railway in the world. The new Chuo Shinkansen trains will employ magnetic levitation technology, a form of propulsion the elevates train cars to eliminate friction and speed acceleration, and will reduce travel time between Tokyo and Osaka from 3 hours to 67 minutes with a top speed of 505 km/h.
